PDF Security: Should You Use a Password or a Watermark?

Protecting your documents requires the right technique. Discover when to use 128-bit encryption versus visual watermarks for your PDFs.

Security is paramount for business documents. But should you "Lock" the file with a password, or "Stamp" it with a watermark? The answer depends on your goal.

Use a Password When...

You only want a specific person to open the file. This is best for financial statements, medical records, or private letters.

Use a Watermark When...

The document is public, but you want to prevent unauthorized credit or "leaking." Use it for drafts, company portfolios, or invoices to prevent tampering.

💡 Tip

For the ultimate security, use BOTH. Watermark the document as "Confidential" and then add a 128-bit AES password using our toolkit.
